DEVEREUX ó Devereaux, es un apellido de origen normando, "nacionalizado" en Irlanda por su larga trayectoria. Su origen se encuentra en un lugar de Francia llamado Evreux. En los registros de entradas de pasajeros al puerto de Buenos Aires figuran tres personas de este apellido, ingresadas entre 1858 y 1879.
The name Devereaux in Ireland is of Norman origin and was originally rendered as d'Evreux. The initial settlement points were in Counties Dublin and Wexford where the majority of descendants can still be found. Devereux, Deveraux and Devary are among the variants of this name.
Spelling variations: Devereaux, Deveraux, Devereux, Deverall, Deverell, Deverill, Devreux and many more. First found in Herefordshire where they were seated from very early times and were granted lands by Duke William of Normandy, their liege Lord, for their distinguished assistance at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 A.D.
