Elkin

Origen: Normando. De todos los nombres anglosajones en Gran Bretaña, Elkin es uno de los más antiguos. El nombre es un resultado de la familia original que vive en la aldea de Alchorne en la parroquia de Rotherfield, Sussex. First found in Oxfordshire where they were anciently seated as Lords of the Manor at Oxford. The Saxon influence of English history diminished after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The language of the courts was French for the next three centuries and the Norman ambience prevailed. But Saxon surnames survived and the family name was first referenced in the year 1273 when Elekin held estates in that shire.

Variantes: Elkins, Elkyns, Ellkins, Ellkens, Elkens, Elekins, Elekins, Elekyns, Elkin y otros.
