Fatley
The Irish name Flatley is derived from the native Gaelic O'Flaitile sept that translates as 'prince poet'. This sept was located in County Sligo in the North-West of the country where the majority of descendants bearing the name can still today be found. This name is sometimes used as a variant form of the Gaelic O'Flaitre sept of County Offaly who more usually anglicized their name as Flattery.
