Payne
The name Payne in Ireland was brought to the country by settlers as early as the fourteenth century. The main setlements were in the Province of Leinster with a number of towns being called Paynestown. It is sometimes confused with the name Pyne which is also of Anglo origin but is more often found in County Cork.
