El apellido MacSHARRY ha sido vertido al inglés en algunas regiones del Ulster como Foley, debido al error que deriva de la palabra “seanach”, que significa potrillo.

Origen: Irlandés. First found in Courtmacsherry, Cork where they were anciently seated, some say before the Anglo Norman invasion of Ireland by Strongbow in 1172.
